Got an email with an image from mail.mailify.no?

Then the sender turned on «Opened» in Mailify. Here is what it means, what is stored, and how to opt out.

What the image does

«Opened» is off by default. A sender who uses Mailify can turn it on. The email then carries one small, invisible image from mail.mailify.no. When your mail program fetches the image, the sender can see that the email was opened.

«Opened» means the image was fetched, not that the email was read. Some mail programs fetch images automatically; others block them.

What is stored

When the image was first and last fetched, how many times, and whether the fetch looks automatic. We do not store IP address, device, mail program or location, neither in Mailify nor in the server logs.

For how long

The data is deleted 90 days after the email was sent. After that, no further fetches of that email are recorded.

Who is responsible

The sender and their company are the controller and must have a basis for using the feature. Webies AS, which provides Mailify, is the processor. Send questions about a particular email to the sender, or write to personvern@webies.no. More in the privacy policy.

Opt out

Request received. We handle it within 30 days. Once it is approved, email to this address no longer carries the image, and we no longer record when email already sent to it is opened.

Enter your email address and send the request. We handle it within 30 days. Once it is approved, email that Mailify users send to the address will not carry the image. Email already sent may carry it, but we then no longer record when it is opened.

The address is kept only until the request is handled. Once it is approved, we keep only a SHA-256 checksum of the address, which we compare with the recipients when an email is sent. You can also block the image by turning off automatic image loading in your mail program.
